Many people may think cacao and cocoa are the same thing. Although they both are derived from the cacao plant, cacao and cocoa are two very different ingredients. Raw cacao is made by cold-pressing un-roasted cacao beans. Cacao is a powerful antioxidant that helps to fight free radical damage in the body. It is also a good source of iron.
Cocoa looks similar, but it’s not. Cocoa powder (not to be confused with Cacao!) has been roasted at high temperatures, and often further used to make chocolate bars, candies and chocolate beverage.
